High-Protein Pita Pizza

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 Joseph's Pita Bread
  • 3oz Cooked Chicken Breast
  • 55g Priano Tomato Basil Sauce
  • 25g Kraft Mozzarella Cheese
  • 10g Cherry Tomatoes
  • 1/2 Tsp Italian Seasoning (Optional)
  • Spring Salad (Optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Turn your oven on broil and wait about 3 minutes for it to heat up.
  2. Place your plain pita on an oven-safe pan in the oven so that it can toast or crisp on both sides. Each side will need about 1-2 minutes. This can vary depending on your oven, so keep an eye on it.
  3. Once it's toasted to your preference, remove it from the oven, add the tomato basil sauce and cooked chicken, sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly, and top off with sliced cherry tomatoes.
  4. Place in the oven for about 1-2 minutes until cheese melts.
  5. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning or, if you prefer, garlic powder. Serve with a side of spring mix salad and your favorite salad dressing.

High-Protein Pita Pizza

Pizza usually gets a bad rep, so I wanted to create a macro-friendly option packed with protein. Enjoy the flavors of pizza with only 300 calories and a whopping 40 grams of protein. I know, I know, it will never be the same, and that's understandable. Yet, it's pretty cool that we can still find ways to enjoy these flavors while still reaching our goals. This recipe is a great option if you're looking for a quick and easy recipe for lunch or dinner. What I love about this recipe is that you only need about 5 ingredients to make it.

Begin by preheating your oven to broil, ensuring the perfect crispness in every bite. Place your pita in the oven. Once your pita bread is toasted to your preference, add the tomato basil sauce and the cooked chicken, and evenly sprinkle your mozzarella cheese; last, add sliced cherry tomatoes. Place in the oven and allow the cheese to melt. This should take about 1-2 minutes. Once the cheese has melted, remove it from the oven and sprinkle any seasoning you choose. I usually add Italian seasoning and garlic powder for the extra flavor.

You can serve your Pita Pizza with a side of fresh spring mix salad drizzled with your favorite dressing. This pizza made with pita bread is high in protein and a healthy option, proving that nutritious food can be delicious, and you can still reach your health and fitness goals.

Note: We can simplify this meal by using pre-cooked chicken. Assembling this delicious pita becomes a quick option with the chicken already prepared, making it an ideal choice for busy days when you crave a nutritious and effortless meal. If you find meal-prepping chicken breast time-consuming, opt for the Perdue Simply Smart Organics Grilled Chicken Strips. This option is fully cooked, it's organic, so you don't have unnecessary fillers, and it's convenient.
