What are Virtual Zumba Classes Like?

What is Virtual Zumba?

If you’re new to my page, you will notice that I offer virtual Zumba classes. What if you don’t know what Zumba is? Let me tell you!

Zumba is a fitness program that dates back to the 1990s. The Zumba craze is taking over the world, and it’s easy to see why. Zumba classes are aerobic/cardio workouts based on dance movements that will get your heart rate up quickly, burn calories, improve balance and posture, and leave you feeling refreshed after class!

Dance moves and Latin-inspired music are used to promote a healthy heart, maintain a healthy level of aerobic activity, increase cardio, promote flexibility, and reduce stress. To improve cardiovascular fitness, Zumba routines incorporate interval training- alternating between fast and slow rhythms.

Participating in a virtual Zumba class is an excellent way to relieve stress. It can reduce stress-causing hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline in the body by stimulating the production of endorphins.   According to the American Heart Association, dance can help improve heart health through endurance. You’re exercising, burning calories, and sweating while having fun. After a Zumba class, you will feel like a totally different person! This I can guarantee. Zumba keeps you motivated and pumped!

How long are Zumba classes?

My virtual Zumba classes are usually anywhere from 40-50 minutes . Currently, I am only teaching virtually. I truly respect everyone’s schedule and the time they take to join my class. For this reason, you will notice that my classes always start on time.  Feel free to check my upcoming classes and sign up!

Is Zumba good for losing weight?

Zumba dance workouts that are medium to high intensity can burn 300 to 900 calories per hour.  The combination of Zumba classes, strength training sessions, and a balanced diet can help you achieve your weight goals. Zumba is a type of HIIT workout. I’m pretty sure that most women would prefer to dance to their favorite Latin or pop song than doing 20 burpees.

You get the same effects of HIIT while having fun. Zumba is a great tool that you can use to further your calorie burn for the day. Stress levels can really impact your ability to lose weight. This is where Zumba comes in. As mentioned, Zumba is a great stress reliever.

What are virtual Zumba classes like?

You can expect the class to begin with a warm-up to prepare your body for movement. Throughout the class, you will notice that the song selections will allow your heart rate to increase while other songs will allow you to catch your breath. Some songs include moves such as squats and lunges. Participants are encouraged to modify their movements and steps based on their capabilities and limitations. The goal is to keep moving.

If you’re new to virtual Zumba classes, after attending a few classes your coordination will improve. It gives students a way to express themselves through dance while helping them reach their fitness goals. Since Zumba with Jess is currently done virtually, you can join the class in the comfort of your home. You can choose to leave your camera on or off, whatever makes you feel comfortable.

The steps are great for those that are new but also for those that are Zumba pros. It allows everyone to dance along without feeling self-conscious or overwhelmed because the moves aren’t too complicated or difficult. Everyone is welcome to join. Towards the end of the class, we end with a cool-down routine that includes some stretching.
